Late Show host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump has a signature move when he needs a quick distraction.

“Whenever Trump is backed into a corner, he needs to change the subject and throw red meat to the carnivorous base,” Colbert said. “And their favorite cut is filet of Obama.”

Trump has been looking for a way to deflect attention from new questions about his friendship with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. So when asked about Epstein on Tuesday, Trump instead raged against former President Barack Obama.

“The witch hunt that you should be talking about is they caught President Obama absolutely cold,” Trump said. “Now, we found absolute ― this isn’t like evidence or ― this is like proof, irrefutable proof, that Obama was sedacious.”

“Wow,” Colbert replied. “It takes extraordinary confidence to call a former president ‘sedacious,’ because that is not a word.”

Trump also posted an AI-generated video of Obama being arrested, which Colbert narrated.

“There’s Obama. Fake FBI agents are arresting him while Trump grins sedaciously,” Colbert said, then added: “What the fuck is wrong with this guy?”

Colbert called it an “insane thing” to put on social media.

“If you or I put up an AI video depicting the violent arrest of a former president, we would get a free ride in a windowless van to FBI headquarters, where they would put us to work redacting Trump’s name from the Epstein file,” Colbert said.

And that may not even be the worst of it.

“Even more disturbing, the whole video is set to the song ‘YMCA,’” Colbert said. “Oh my God. Trump thinks that’s a real cop in the band!”
