Earlier this week, rumors began swirling that JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez — who placed third in the Season 6 finale of Love Island USA — had called it quits after almost a year together.
For some quick context, while JaNa and Kenny had some heartbreaking relationship drama in the villa, they seemed very solid after the show wrapped and have gushed about each other repeatedly over the past year.
On JaNa’s birthday in December, for example, Kenny shared a sweet carousel of photos of the pair and wrote, “JaNa, today is your day. It’s all about you. My Pookie Bear. My Love. My Heart. My Nay Nay. It’s been a blessing to be by your side these last few months and to watch you take on the world. What I admire most about you is your heart. Your smile lights up every room that you walk into. No matter how bright the spotlight shines on you, you never fail to make others feel loved, cared for and appreciated. You are just as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside and that explains why you always catch me staring and looking so dumbfounded. I am so lucky to have you in my life. You’ve inspired me to keep going, dream big and to have trust in the journey even when it feels uncertain. I’d be lying if I said the first few months out of the villa weren’t difficult for me, but you kept on reassuring me and telling me that everything is in God’s hands, to put my faith in Him and to be grateful for all He has done for us.”
With this in mind, fans were pretty shocked when rumors of the breakup began bubbling — namely after JaNa unfollowed Kenny on Instagram, with her former Season 6 costars Serena Page and Leah Kateb later doing the same.
Serena and Leah’s partners, Kordell Beckham and Miguel Harichi, also wound up unfollowing Kenny, prompting heaps of speculation that he’d been the reason behind the split.
Amid all the chatter, JaNa broke her silence yesterday, July 29, with a statement on Instagram. She said, “Hi my loves. Thank you for all your love & support. It means the world to me. As you know, Kenny and I are no longer together. Please know that I have seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is. Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has been truly devastating.”
Kenny also shared a statement on Instagram, writing, “The past few days have been incredibly difficult. l’ve been quietly sitting with a lot of emotions and doing my best to process everything privately. Breakups are never easy, especially in the public eye. Sometimes, despite how deeply you care for someone, you come to the hard truth that the relationship was not something that could last long-term. I’ll always be grateful for the time we shared and the memories we created. I release this chapter with no ill will, only a hope that JaNa’s path forward brings her nothing but happiness.”
However, things got incredibly messy when JaNa released a second statement calling Kenny a “manipulative liar.” She wrote, “@kennyrodriguez stfu you manipulative liar. You not taking any accountability and telling people the type of person you really are is insane to me!! My first statement was me being nice. Do not piss me off.”
Leah then reposted JaNa’s second statement and shared some words of her own. “@kennyrodriguez Put a sock in it ChatGPT headass. Tell the truth for once! Racist, clout/money hungry and a scammer since DAY 1!!!!” she alleged.
“Tryna make it seem like it’s something it’s not,” she wrote before adding, “Dw, our Nay is blessed & highly favored.”
And then, fellow Season 6 Love Island stars Olivia Walker and Kaylor Martin entered the conversation. Olivia wrote, “Your pathetic excuse for a story is laughable. I can’t even put into words how good of a person naynay is and how hard it is watch her go through something like this. @kennyrodriguez I hope this gives you the clout you always wanted you fucking loser,” while Kaylor said, “@kennyrodriguez is a poor excuse of a man. You lost the most beautiful genuine soul. Shame on you.”
What’s more, Leah has since accused Kenny of deleting her Instagram comments under his posts, while asking him to stop posting content with Miguel. “How about you delete my man off your page instead of deleting my comments,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, JaNa’s close friend Charmane Smith shared an eyebrow-raising message via Instagram, which has since been deleted. She wrote, “My advice for women in relationships: if you have access- go thru your mans phone TODAY. Search keywords like ‘I don’t like black women, I thought I would get more money from this, I’m faking this relationship, going on the show would be for clout, I can’t wait to be done w this so I can fuck hella bitches’ … You’ll thank me later. P.S- NEVER spare a man. Dog them out babygirl.”
Charmane wrote in a second post, “I DONT PLAY ABOUT JANA.” JaNa reshared this and added, “Love you bestie.”
